(How do we know?)

Epistemology is the branch of philosophy concerned with knowledge.

It examines what it means to know something, how beliefs are justified, and what distinguishes knowledge from opinion, assumption, or error.

It asks questions such as:

• What is knowledge?

• What counts as evidence?

• How do perception, reason, memory, and testimony contribute to belief?

• Can we trust our senses?

• Are there limits to what we can know?

Epistemology does not ask what exists. It asks how we form reliable beliefs about what exists.

Below are the Main Branches of Epistemology.
